Information
This stunning 2002 MR2 was the weapon of choice for Mr2ZZGE. The standard Toyota 1800cc 1zzfe engine and gearbox was removed and transplanted with a unit from a RunX Rsi. This new high revving 1800cc engine with VVTL-i (variable valve timing and lift intelligence) was sourced all the way from Durban (Thanks C-Chris-zn). The 2zzge engine swap was completed by Mr2zzge and TwincamSam over 2 weekends. The car runs off a Perfect Power XMS-L management system and was wired and tuned by Mr2zzge. All car tuning has taken place on the road with only power runs being done on a dynometer. Even though the car is still in constant development, the project has churned out remarkable results. It is rock solid reliability with amazing acceleration due to the light weight of the MR2 and the high power output of the 2ZZGE engine. We will keep you all updated with the progress of the little MR2 as we go along. The cars goal is to break under a 13.7 sec run on a quarter mile and by the driving feel of the little monster...it is definitely on its way to achieving that feat!
