Topic: I got an MR2 spyder.......

sup gents...This is my new car...a 2003 mark 3 MR2 spyder, silver in color.....I don't have pics of the car yet but google any std spyder and that is how my car looks......totally stock.....yes it is mid engined rear wheel drive car that weighs under a ton etc etc but the best part for me is that it is convertible......now that is how I love to roll with this car......i think the car looks even better with the top down.......also knowing that only400-500 of these cars came to SA.....this makes them pretty unique on our roads......the car handles just too damn well......the car has a 1zzfe motor....1800, 100kw 170nm.....but due to the light weight the car does 0-100km/h at the coast in 8 sec flat.......right now I don't want to mod the spyder....I am still in the 'honeymoon' phase with my new found toy!(pun intended!) ../../extensions/custom_smilies_2/img1/wink

Congrats Trish! Where is the SC?

Yes the MR2 is an awesome drivers car. You must see how good the handling gets with a suspension kit.

thanks guys....car is really a jol to drive....and the attention one gets in the car is tops! Mr2zz-ge.....I know you the main man to chat to about mods on an MR2....you had the 13sec NA one......sounded tops on the videos......well done.....I will chat to you when I am in cape town next....samo you must introduce me to the member!

The little beast is still up here but i will be so busy this year especially that I decided I needed a car that didn't take too much of my time and you know how small things on the sc car can take up time.....I got one two things to sort out and I am taking her now to the mech....after which she will be at home in cape town......maybe she will be up for sale or at best kept there till next year for me to continue with her..... ../../extensions/custom_smilies_2/img1/biggrin2

Vishen.....the car currently has so much grip that even with sling  shot take offs the spyder does not spin off the line..mid mounted so the weight is right on  the rear wheels.....maybe the bridgeston potenza's on the car has something to do with that as well...... ../../extensions/custom_smilies_2/img1/wink

Grip thats true with 1zz-ge you can easily kill the standard clutch.

However with the 2zz-ge burnouts and wheel spin is acceptable.

I got semi's on and its still lights them up everytime

hehe.....when I need my clutch replaced I will ask you for advice......so can you pm me or email me what mods and brand names that is best for the MR2...starting with the basic induction, exhaust, branch, then cams, to clutch and suspension ? or you could just put in here on this thread.... ../../extensions/custom_smilies_2/img1/laughing

Well....i can leave that to Mr2ZZGE. He has experiencing in setting up a 1zzge with management and tuning it. The engine is very responsive to mods. It can make 20v power easy.

Also heard the MR2 has pre-cats and cats that clog up and kill the engine and needs to be removed....what is your experience with regards to this Mr2zz-ge?

also if I change my exhaust and branch will I have issues with the 3 O2 sensors? on spyderchat guys spoke about issue as these O2 sensors are needed for the proper management of the engine.....

true that...std rims and tyres the car stays completely flat at 200km/h while changing lanes....no body roll...just tons of grip....

The header and downpipe come with a harness to overcome the o2 sensors
