Topic: 180i smoking when idling

Hi chaps,

My mom's 180i GSE smokes when the car idles for a long time and when floored it throws out a huge puff of smoke.
Also, when decelerating down a hill for example, and when flooring it at the bottom of the hill, she throws out smoke as well.
I'm led to believe that the valve stem seals are worn.

Can any of you guys comment?
Where can I take the head for good overhaul?

Thanks

Re: 180i smoking when idling

If it's idling and smoking, it's more than the stem seals...
Probably piston rings.
Take it for a compression test.

Re: 180i smoking when idling

Howsit guys, I'm currently driving 1994 corrolla 160i GLE and am looking to make some decent power. I recently bought a twincam series 3 head with complete intake. What i need to know is, will this head fit onto the standard 4afe block. If it does, what conversions need to be done?
