Re: Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator-*Updated with Results*

Hey guys.....Im not sure about running it with management but from all the research i have done the optimal fuel pressure to run on a 20v is 3.0 bars. Std from is 2.7.

I say run the regulator and then tune with the mngt for best results.

Hey sam..got someone to make me a gear..
Is it only the exhaust gear that is needed or both?
What will this gain on my ST with mangement?

How does 30/08/08 sound for CT hookup?

Re: Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator-*Updated with Results*

hey twincam sam... any dyno results yet??

4AGE 20v blacktop- the true STREETFIGHTER!

Re: Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator-*Updated with Results*

I've a 20v blacktop with auto trans & I've added some stuff to improve the response at the lower revs; 1-3k rpm range because it's terribly sluggish until it hits 3k rpm. Since it's an auto trans, driving in town, that's the most used powerband.

1. Trust/Greddy E-Manage (blue) piggyback with additional Ignition & Injector harness & dyno tuned. It only gained 8 ps atw (from 112 ps to 120 ps atw) but then again, my intention is to improve the response on the lower revs, not Hp crazy. Afterall, it's an auto trans... Hahaha.

http://greddy.com/img/PHP/products/jpg/524.jpg

2. MSD Blaster SS ignition coil, Ultra (brand) plug cables (used TRD & NGK before but the best is Ultra), Denso Iridium IK20 spark plugs & Pivot (brand) Raizin (model) volt stabilizer.

http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x299/2Old2Rusty/DSC00244.jpg

3. Toda adjustable cam pulley (or you guys call them "vernier cam gears" ?) for the ex. I've not dyno tuned after installing this item yet as the dyno shop is about 3 hrs drive from my place; that's why I'm lazy to go.

http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x299/2Old2Rusty/14112008006.jpg

4. I'm also using the 1JZ fuel pump.

After all these installed, I find that the response between 1-3k rpm have improved tremendously over the standard settings.

Now that you guys mentioned that the adjustable fuel regulator will help to further improve the lower rpm, I'm very excited about it & may probably go & install one.:)

I'm using this brand; SARD on my BEAMS and I think it's quite ok:

Is it difficult to get these Japanese stuff over in SA ?

We cant get it over the counter.
Guys usuall all club in and then buy like 10 or more of a thing if it needs to be imported.

Oh, I see. There's another brand which is British made or something, called FSE. It's quite good too but I don't know if it's available in your plave though. We used it back those days when I was playing Ford Escorts.

Re: Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator-*Updated with Results*

The guys that are running aftermarket management, don't need the FPR,becasue when the car is dynod, they setup up the time that the injectors will stay open. This is only benificial if you running std management since we can't adjust anything on it.

Re: Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator-*Updated with Results*

Thanks very much, bro.;)

Maybe it's time I save some money for a full management like the ones you mentioned...

Re: Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator-*Updated with Results*

Guys DO still use AFPR if using after market systems, it can still give u gains and benefits ur tuning potential allot. Management cant alter ur Fuel pressure! U can only adjust the duty cycles on the injectors.

Re: Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator-*Updated with Results*

Thanks very much for the advise, bro.

In that case, probably I'll settle for a FPR first bcoz it's much cheaper compared to standalone managements.

Re: Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator-*Updated with Results*

Hi twincamsam

Is this with running standard injectors?

Fuel pressure regulator must be set on idle but with the vacuum hose disconnected which would give you the pressure under full throttle.....set it at 2.9 or max 3 bars here.

Fuel Pressure regulators also can be set up with full management. You can crank up the pressure to around 3.5 bar and then set up the fueling correctly on the management. This will give you better throttle response. Management cannot control the fuel pressure...it can only increase or decrease the fueling.

Thats disconnected from the std FPR & connected to the AFPR?

Cause i installed it on my car & put it on 3bar,but i don't feel any difference, think it's cause of my C.I.A

Re: Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator-*Updated with Results*

i know my car over fuels a bit around the 7000RPM with the std FPR,so maybe i don't need it.
