When the sensor is disconnected, the engine light will be on in the cockpit and you will only be able to rev to 3000rpm

Yep, light is on. Don't understand it, coz I was very careful cleaning the sensor.
Used an earbud and genlty cleaned it. New one costs R 1600  ../../extensions/custom_smilies_2/img1/sad

eish sorry to hear boet. PM MasterAsh on Playtoy forum. Maybe he can help! have you tried reseating the connector on the sensor? Spray some Q20 or something in there. Maybe it works after that.

Re: AIR MASS SENSOR CHECK...PS IMPORTANT

Think that might be the mistake I made  ../../extensions/custom_smilies_2/img1/sad

See usually when fitting or removing the CAI, I remove the Battery. Yesterday, I decided to fit the SRI, as the standard intake was still on. It was thus not necesarry to remove battery. I afterwards decided to somma clean the sensor. Unfortunately did nor disconnect battery. That prolly why it's fukkd ??   ../../extensions/custom_smilies_2/img1/sad

Re: AIR MASS SENSOR CHECK...PS IMPORTANT

unless u cleaned it with the ignition on or the car on i dont think it wud have gotten messed up
check all ur connecters
mayb put the std airbox back an check?
mayb its a vacum pipe or something?

Re: AIR MASS SENSOR CHECK...PS IMPORTANT

Nah, car was switched off when I removed the sensor. I did put standard intake back and checked and all was well. Removed a sensor from my bro's car and everything was ok. Put my sensor back and same story. I'll check it again tonight and report back tmrw...

Re: AIR MASS SENSOR CHECK...PS IMPORTANT

Thanks for the write-up Jeremy, I was puzzled about why my car seemed so sluggish, thought it was just in my head. even my mates thought i was crazy, but after taking the sensor off and inspecting i saw that the sensor was really grimey. cleaned it up with a cotton bud and some twin-saver 2-ply and it's right as rain. My windows won't go down by themselves now so i know it's still mapping but i can definitely feel an improvement on the throttle response and overall drivebility, my massive flatspot from 1k-3k rpm is gone already and the induction roar sounds deeper. thanks again ../../extensions/custom_smilies_2/img1/biggrin2

Re: AIR MASS SENSOR CHECK...PS IMPORTANT

Does anybody know if you get an aftermarket O2 sensor which apparently gives better performance than the standard??

Every advice so far is right. I can't imagine an engine light that will stay on in the cockpit and still allow you to rev more than 3000 rpm. The air mass meter or sensor as you call it is very crucial to the regulation of airflow that is fetched to the air intake system in the internal combustion engine. Even if you clean the air mass meter, it still can possibly cause problems, so you might want to check on your connectors too. Make sure everything is tight in there.

Re: AIR MASS SENSOR CHECK...PS IMPORTANT

To fix you windows just let your window go down all the way and the press the window button down for a couple of seconds, you can also do it when it is closed and pull the button up for a few seconds, just do that with all the windows, works if you do all from the driver side as well...
