Topic: interested in rxi 20v

Hi guys
I'm thinking of buyn a friends 20valve rxi, mileage is high over 200,000kms on clock. Is it a good buy? And also what's the common faults with the rxi's?
I also heard you get a controller to kick the vvt in earlier? Is it true?
Thanks

Re: interested in rxi 20v

Hi

Let me tell you going for one of the best 1.6 available (in my opinion). Regarding the mileage, that is relative, sometimes a well serviced motor will last longer. Open the tapped cover and check for oil sludge.Heavy Sludge motor will require a freshen-up. Common faults:

1. it seems the VVT gear will last 100.000km . Its easy to see if your vvt is shot(usually sounds like a truck at idle)
2. O2 sensor - i think this is because the 20v overfuels

Dont see any other fault that differ from any other motor

Cheers

Re: interested in rxi 20v

on a std 20v ecu the vvt activates from 1500rpm-6800rpm and only if you at half throttle or more ( vvt only activate under load you can cruise at 5000rpm at 1/4 throttle with std ecu without vvt)  so i dont know what controller you talking about as theres no need, i do know you get a vtec controller maybe thats what you heard of  ../../extensions/custom_smilies_2/img1/wink

What did the 1 V-tec supporter say to the other V-tec supporter?
NB:Remember!!!
If the 20vs 1st off the line we'll say he JUMPED THE V-TEC!
but if the VTEC's 1st off the line we'll say he OUT LAUNCHED THE 20V!
sweeeeeet!!! we cant lose this way.......(^_^)

Re: interested in rxi 20v

Rxi one of the best cars I owned and I regret ever selling mine.
I wouldn't interfere by putting a switch to activate the VVT earlier, the VVT is power on demand as soon as you put foot the VVT kicks in. It's not like the V-tec where it only kicks in after 4000 or 5000 revvs.
